¡Unas Fotos!

Aquí están unas de mis fotos de la escuela, el centro Baha'i, y la ciudad. Voy a tomar mas (¡con mi cámara fantástica, muchas grácias Cori!) por supuesto, pero estos darán a Uds un buen idea de mi vida nueva.

**I'm saying everything in Spanish first in order to practice...A translation: Here are some photos of the school, Bahai center, and the city. I'm going to take many, many more, thanks to my lovely camera from CORI!, but for the moment, this will give you a good idea of my surroundings!

BEST SURPRISE POSTER EVER!

The view from the house where I'm staying. ¡Que bonita¡

The Bahai Center. The photo was taken from a basically identical building that borders the greenspace.

I forget what this is called, but its where they have large gatherings like Feast. On the inside, there's the Greatest Name on the ceiling, just like in the Temples!
Part of the school buildings: L to R; High school classrooms, library, computer lab.
A poster outside of the school.

And this is something that I am very excited about. The principles of the Bahai Faith are interwoven into the framework of the school. For instance, the quote in the middle reads:

"Regard man as a mine rich in gems of inestimable value. Education can, alone, cause it to reveal its treasures, and enable mankind to benefit there from."
This quote is from Baha'u'llah, and it is part of the mission statement of the school. Consultation is encouraged; in a meeting with the principal today, I was told "Paulo is your jefe (boss), but understand that he is not so much of an authoritative figure as a guide and helper who you can consult with and he will help you answer questions." There are Bahai quotes everywhere...the one about knowledge as a ladder for man's ascent is painted on the side of the building containing the laboratory and science classrooms. Also, as Maryam said in her blog, the majority of the teachers in the school are women, and they offer scholarships especially to young women from rural areas. This integration is just so beautiful to see! Now a few more photos:

The Science building with a mural and quote painted on the side.
I'm going out now...somewhere. I'm not sure where, the Spanish was too rapid. ¡Saludos!
